20D-2007-07-28 208Went to the Red Bull Air Race qualifying. Was a good afternoon and quite fun to watch. Took loads of photos, but have selected a few of the better ones to put onto flickr. It includes one photo of a plane hitting a pylon!

20D-2006-04-01 076Forgot to post news about this, but recently schmap.com published one of my photos on their “guide”. You can view it here (its the one appearing top-right of the Royal Festival Hall). It’s taken from my Graffiti Tour Series on Flickr (by permission). Schmap is an online travel guide - don’t seem to very useful for planning a visit to a destination though.

Tea with the Queen

Friday, July 20th, 2007

Lydia and Me at Buckingham Palace Lydia and I went to Buckingham Palace to have tea with the Queen yesterday afternoon. We got the tickets through the NZ Embassy thanks to Robyn’s helpful reminder (hopefully she gets to go next year!)

It was very nice - we walked in through the grand entrance, with tourist taking photos of us - we walked through the gates into the big central courtyard then were admitted by palace staff and then ushered up a red carpet through the other side of the palace.

The rest of the afternoon was filled with tea, cucumber sandwiches (I had one just so I could say it!), a stroll around the palace gardens and of course seeing the Queen greeting her loyal subjects.

We weren’t meant to take photos, but we sneaked one in the courtyard on the way out. I also sneaked one inside the palace garden of the lake. Poetic justice in a way, because all I got was this!
